SOME THINGS ARE WORTH THE WAIT

I've waited since last October for the Farmers Market to come to town again. Yesterday was the opening day and though the temperature was in the 90's, the market had a fair amount of visitors. Some were there just to see what was being offered, but others, like myself, were there for specific items. I found the booth I'd hoped would be there and bought two jars of home canned beets, one jar of pickles, and some fresh veggies. I could hardly wait to get home and taste those beets. I think I like pickled beets more than I like pizza - and that's saying something. The market will be set up every Wednesday through October. It's one of those small town treasures we're so blessed to have and enjoy.

I'm with you. I love me some pickled beets. I keep a jar in the frig at all times just in case!
We went to Farmer's market today and got some great stuff. The Amish always have such great baked goods. Can't wait for the next one.

Those beets look so delicious! One of my first disasters as a new wife was the mistake of putting pickled beets in a special omelete for my husband!! I won't tell you what it looked like but knew I had married the right man when he ate the whole thing!! I still love pickled beets....just not in eggs!!
Enjoy your summer bounty!
