THE CAT'S OUT OF THE BAG - CHAPTER ONE

COLONIAL HOME IN THE COUNTRY - BUILT IN 1919
THIS BIG RED BARN WILL SAFELY HOUSE THE CATS

ANOTHER VIEW OF THE PARLOR
THIS IS THE DEN/FAMILY ROOMSUN ROOM WITH VIEW OF NEIGHBORING FARMS BRICK FIREPLACE IN THE DEN ONE OF MANY SETS OF BUILT-IN SHELVES

To be sure, no cat was ever in any bag. It's just one of those crazy phrases we say when we want someone to know we're telling something that was previously untold. What's out of the bag? Spouse, the cats, and I are officially moving. Finally. We thought it might never happen. Last year's fiasco - when the seller of the home we were buying backed out of the sale - shocked us and it took quite awhile before we were able to let that go and begin house hunting again. We're now in the process of buying a 92-year-old colonial home here in this area. It was the first one our realtor showed us, but I'm very sure she would not have led us there on her own. It was we who wanted to see the house. Afer we toured it, I posted house photos on this blog, but I wasn't sure about the partial basement and I thought the bathrooms were a bit small. When weighed against all the things I DO like about the house, I can deal with all of that. it. The bathrooms truly are small, but there are three of them and who lives in a bathroom anyway? Spouse thought I didn't want the house and I thought he didn't like it. As it turned out, we both liked it but hadn't expressed it to each other. Much of the paperwork is done, the financial part has been dealt with, and inspections have been completed. The closing is scheduled for July 7th and we feel very sure this will soon be our home. I can hardly wait! There are a few twists to this story, and I'll share them in the next few posts. We'll be telling this story to our grandchildren for years to come. Stay tuned.

Oh,my, Kady! It has been a long time coming! I am so happy for you, hubby, and all the kits! It is beautiful. I would go crazy with those built-in shelves. They are gorgeous. And that fireplace - extra special. I can see you sitting with your stocking feet on the hearth in the middle of winter. Congratulations, my friend! I am so very happy for you. I can't wait to see pictures with your lovely things in it!

Thank you Linda. Life is good indeed. I never gave up hope but I did get frustrated. I just kept praying we'd be led to the house we were supposed to have.

Wow Kady, I would be happy just to live with the kitts in the big red barn.. Really so many nice features... So glad the hunt is over but if you thought that was hard wait till you start moving boxes>LOL Its a killer.I found out if you don't unpack a box for a year just pitch it, you must not have needed it anyway... Thank you sweet readers. I feel as if I'm in a dream. The house has some issues, as all older house do, but nothing we can't handle and nothing that would cause us to not want to live there. The setting is one I've dreamed about for years, even before I knew of this house. Thank you for the good wishes.

I'm pleased to hear you have finally settled on your next new home. It has a lot of history and I know you will make it your own despite it's little quirks!!! Every house has those LOL!!! I do love the size of the barn!!! It is a relief to have made the decision, now for the packing and unpacking, urghhhhh!!!!, that is one job I do dislike intensely LOL!!! I hope you have a smooth transition!
