MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Doesn't it seem as if we've been preparing for this day for a long time? Now that it's here, is it everything you wished and hoped it would be? I can't say Christmas Day is always everything I hope it will be, but I think I often set my expectations too high. Christmas is never going to hold the magic and awe it did for us when we were children. We can't go back in time and re-live all those exciting moments, but we can still celebrate and make new memories. For most of us, the joy of Christmas has evolved from the thrill of "getting" to the happiness of "giving".
This year I'm enjoying Christmas without all the trappings of guilt that usually accompany the holidays. There were some things I didn't accomplish, but I was able to let those go. Today I'm feeling very relaxed and happy. I hope all of you are feeling the joy and spending your day with family and friends.
We'll be joining our daughter and her family for dinner in a little while and we're really looking forward to that. She asked us to bring nothing for the meal, but to come, enjoy, and relax. What a wonderful gift! I really don't think she'll mind if I take some homemade Christmas cookies, but I really appreciate her gift to me. She's a great cook! We'll also take some gifts for the grandkids, of course.
I've talked with my mom, who turned 85 today, and visited by phone with my sisters - both of whom I'll see tomorrow - so the day is going well. I was able to choose some gifts for Spouse that he's enjoying and I found my lost wallet last night (that's another story). It was at the church, of all places. That was my own little Christmas miracle.
I wish all of you all the joy and love of the season. Enjoy your day and tell those around you how much you care about them. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

It does seem like we spend so much time preparing for Christmas and it can be a little stressful. I think giving to everyone makes it more peaceful (of your time, your thought in the gifts, etc.)
Merry Christmas!
