REASONS TO LOVE THE NEW YEAR

1) All the leftover turkey is gone
2) White sales galore
3) Just three more months until Spring
4) The Rose Parade
5) 365 new chances to do what you never got around to last year
I borrowed those from the January 1, 2009 issue of Woman's Day Magazine that I was browsing while at the allergist's office today, along with the following:
How to "get on with it"..... by Karen Leland
Oh, I'll do that later. Sound familiar? If you're the type to put off today what you can do tomorrow, start right now by giving your procrastination habit the boot.
1) THINK IN PIECES - "If you're facing a looming project, do small chunks of it at a time," says Laura Stack, author of The Exhaustion Cure. It's less daunting, more doable.
2) BRIBE YOURSELF - Each time you finish a "have-to-do", reward yourself with a "want-to-do". Make the reward conditional: I won't watch American Idol until I finish this.
3) SPEAK OUT - Tell a close friend what you're aiming to accomplish by when and ask her to check in on your progress. Going public creates accountability.
4) DELEGATE - Ask yourself, "Do I have to do this myself?". If the answer is "no", hand it off. The point is to stop stalling and take action, even if it means having someone else tackle the task.
The new year is a perfect time to change old habits and create new ones. Take more time for yourself. Learn what makes you happiest and do it. Add more color, music, creativity, and friends to your life and live each day fully.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
