WE FOUGHT THE BEES.....AND THE BEES WON

You can click on the photo to enlarge it.
My backyard cabin has a new look. A mini make-over was needed after we battled carpenter bees this Spring. Spouse had to replace numerous pieces of wood on the outside of the cabin and along the top of it, just below the roof. He re-stained the whole cabin and painted the door a nice shade of red, inside and out. I love the name of the paint color - Cherry Chocolate. The red door makes the outside of the cabin look inviting and now the inside looks very warm and cozy. I'll share some interior photos later, once I have things better arranged.
Spouse also stained the inside beams that I'd left "naked" since falling off a step stool while trying to stain them myself. (Scroll down if you want to read the whole sordid story.) I'd always wanted the beams stained, but gave up when that didn't work out well for me. My spouse also painted the ceiling of the cabin, between the beams. All that's left to do for our make-over is to add some grapevine and white lights among the inside beams. We hope to have that done by fall. Spouse also replaced the lights along the roof on the outside. We use white lights during the year until holiday time, then we add colored lights. It's fun to look out the kitchen window and see my cabin all lit up at night.
