FINDING THEIR WAY

The kittens are now eight weeks old (I can't believe it either!) and Kelly seems to be wanting more and more time away from them. That's very natural and it's a good thing, but it's a bit sad to observe. The babies no longer follow her hoping for some dinner. When she sits in the middle of the room calling to them, they're usually off exploring and paying little attention to her. They don't even sleep with her now. I usually find the kittens curled up inside the cat beds - two in one, three in another - while Kelly lies on top of one of the cupboards in her room and watches over them.
On one hand, I'm very happy the little furry ones have become so independent and no longer rely on their mama for every meal. That's exactly as it should be, but on the other hand, it was very heartwarming to see Kelly and her kittens cuddled together. I loved to sit and watch the kittens nurse while their mama contentedly purred. What a joy they have been.
No matter how much I'd love to keep them all here with me - safe, secure, and loved - that's not why I brought Kelly inside and helped her raise her family. I knew from the beginning that independence would be the destination of this amazing little journey.

and what a journey it has been for you and Kelly and her babies for sure, but I too have enjoyed this journey along with you, and am saddened that it will come to an end. I will think about them for awhile and hope they find their way to good homes.
Thank you for bringing them into my life and sharing this journey with me.
