I'm happy to report Rusty is warming up to the other cats a little bit - and to me. He now comes to me to be petted and our holding sessions are getting longer. He's started to play with his brother Bailey but now Bailey is the one who is being a tad stand-offish. Cats are like the weather here in Ohio - it's said if you don't like what's going on weather-wise, just wait a day or two and things are sure to change. Rusty still reacts to loud noises and sudden movements but I think he's going to be fine. He's such a joy and I'm so glad he's here.
My little feral Dixie is trusting me more each day. It's been two years since I first saw her running around the neighborhood. She was completely untouchable until recently. I think she has an upper respiratory problem so I'll need to take her to the vet within the next couple days. Whatever she has seems to be mild so I want to control it before it gets out of hand. Of course it might clear up on its own, but I have the other cats to think about and we don't need a virus running rampant here. Tonight I made an appointment for Dixie to be spayed and Rusty to be neutered, so we're on our way to better days for both of them and less worry for me.
