LOSING ANOTHER FRIEND

It's been one month and a few days since my artist friend, Tina, died and today at 4:05pm, another talented artist friend, Pat Fischer, slipped peacefully into the arms of God with family at her bedside. Pat bravely battled Pulmonary Hypertension for a few years and recently experienced heart valve replacement surgery. Heart-wise, she came through the surgery fine, but unfortunately she sustained irreversible liver and kidney damage. After a raging infection set in, it was evident that fighting all these things at once was too overwheming. In the end, Pat was simply not strong enough to sustain another recovery period, even though she had bounced back from some very serious illnesses in the past two years. Though Pat's friends prayed for a miracle, she seemed to know this was not going to end the way we hoped. She told family members she was ready to go. Pat and Tina were good friends and both were very talented artists. Pat often said it was not her talent we saw, but God's. She would add, "I just hold the brush".
Pat was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loyal friend. Those who considered her their friend (and mentor) are too numerous to count. I want to think Tina was waiting at the gates of Heaven to welcome Pat. It's comforting to think Pat and Tina will be together again - truly forever friends.
