Why is it when my van is tucked safely into the garage, I don't always feel the need to go anywhere, but when it's not there - as in when I'm stranded without wheels for the day - I can think of a million places to go and things to do? Spouse's truck is at the dealership for minor repairs today and he has my vehicle.
This is a very temporary situation and it's not a hardship, but I do miss my old van. Just knowing it's not in the garage makes me feel stranded. I have a 1996 tan Aerostar minivan and no matter what anybody says, I love it. I have driven grandkids here and there in it, toted all manner of craft show set-up and handmade goods in it, and though it has more miles than I thought a vehicle could accumulate, it still runs well. It has a few dings and scratches though. In fact, an elderly gentleman threw open his car door in the grocery store parking lot yesterday and put another ding in one of her doors, but I didn't even get upset. He waved to me as if to acknowledge what he'd done, but then disappeared into the store and I didn't see him again.
My old girl's name is Nana's Van. It was one of the first phrases my grandson learned to say when he was little and the name stuck. Spouse surprised me with a "NANASVN" license plate back then and though the grandkids are older now and I don't have much opportunity to drive them places, I'm still their Nana and my vehicle continues to wear the special plate. I miss her but I sure have gotten a lot done today. I cleaned out the fridge, gathered the trash, arranged music for tonight's chorus rehearsal, re-filed the music we used on Sunday, and did some laundry. It's odd how much I can accomplish when I'm not out running around...I mean doing errands.

I had to chuckle at your affection for your old van. You sound like Precious Ramotswe - Alexander Mccall Smith's heroine from the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. Precious has a van that she just dotes on! Smiles from Cat Haven
Why is it women get attached to their "wheels" and we name them, too!! Must be a "female" thingy!!!
My little sister had a big ole car and it was green so she named it the "green bean"--we still see it around town now and then!!!!
Yep--I do believe we get more done when we are home all day---feels good too!!!
Hugs, Di
