SOME OF THE SHOPS ON MADISON, INDIANA'S MAIN STREET

My kindred-cat-friend, Chris, called yesterday and invited me to ride along with her on a trip to Southern Indiana. We left at 7am this morning and arrived in the historic town of Madison around 9am. We traveled through many small burgs, including Clifty Falls, where at least two beautiful natural waterfalls could be seen from the road.

Chris and I were shocked when we saw results of the flooding in Southern Indiana. There had been a lot of rain and standing water in our area here in Ohio, but to see the great Ohio River overflowing its banks was a humbling sight. Chris said she'd been in that same area last week and had driven down to the park along the river. Today there were barricades across all roads leading to the river and the entire park was under water.

We were able to drive through the streets of town and enjoyed seeing the well-kept homes with their beautiful architecture and all the quaint shops and restaurants. None of the shops was open since it was so early, but I instantly knew I wanted to go back and spend a day in Madison. We were a little disappointed the Downtowner Restaurant wasn't open for breakfast though. Chris had previously dined there and highly recommended the food.

The trip was a good chance for us to visit and once again, Chris led me out of my comfort zone and into an adventure. When we were back at Chris' house, her cats came running as soon as they heard her voice. I'm sure they had missed their mom. It was another good day with a very special friend. Thank you for everything Chris.

We're waiting for our river city, Marietta to get flooded, which it is pretty close now. Just one of those things one has to deal with living on the river.
