I wouldn't say we're exactly having fun moving into the new old house in this sweltering heat, but I'm thrilled to actually have the keys to the house and be able to go there any time I choose. It still seems like a dream to me. Today, as I stood gazing out one of the windows that faces the road, I was remembering the countless times Glenn and I drove past the house before it was even on the market. We always loved how beautiful it looked at night with candles in each window and spotlights on the flagpole and flag. I could scarcely believe I was standing inside that house, pondering paint colors and flooring options. We measured the rooms we plan to paint and will choose colors tomorrow. For now, we'll leave some walls as they are because there are many other things needing attention first, plus I'm growing more fond of the wallpaper that at first seemed too Victorian for my tastes. The house is sound and we could live in it exactly as it is, but we want to expose the hardwood floors which lie hidden under old carpeting in some of the rooms. The two little upstairs bedrooms have hardwood floors, as do the parlor and master bedroom. We are thrilled with all of that. I can't pretend that moving isn't hard work, but it's rewarding and exciting to decide where everything will go and what colors will be on the walls. We're already planning a fall barn sale. Now that should be fun since most of the hard work will be behind us by that time - we hope!

Kady, I am so envious of all the built-ins! While I'm not much of a pink fan, the aqua reminds me of my aunts house when we were growing up. And such gorgeous hardwood. I am excited for you!

The timber flooring looks as if it will come up very nicely!! It always starts to feel more homey when you start to have our own things around you, even if they are still in boxes!!! Take it easy in that heat!!

It's kind of like Christmas isn't it? Unpacking the "old" and finding new places for it - the best kind of re-decorating. Keep sharing those pictures girlfriend!
