SECOND STORY ADVENTURE

I'M READY FOR MY PATIO VISIT NOW
WELL, ARE YOU COMING?

This has been an interesting week. I'm cat sitting for two friends and I love being with and caring for their pets. Most of the time I'm met at the door when I go over to feed the cats and offer some TLC. Yesterday one of the cats, Sara, and I had a bit of an adventure. Sara's human mom, Rita, sometimes puts her on a leash and allows her to sit on the apartment patio. Sara had been gesturing that she wanted to go out but I was a bit hesitant. What if she became scared and bolted? After a little more thought, I decided Sara and I would definitely go out on the patio for a short time. Sara stood very still while I applied her harness and leash the we went out onto the patio, closing the sliding glass door behind us. When I heard a "click", it didn't sound just right so I tried the door. Sure enough, the door had locked. Wonderful. What was I supposed to do? It was hot with the sun beating down on us and there was no stairway from the patio. The only thing I could think of at the time was to call out loudly for someone to come and assist us. Finally, a young man came out of an adjacent apartment and asked if he could help me. I told him I was cat sitting and had locked Sara and myself out of the the apartment. I asked him to please go around the front of the building and knock on the door of someone I knew had a key. When he came back and told me he hadn't found anyone home, it occured to me the key to Rita's apartment had been in my pocket all along. As I dropped the key to him, I asked the young man if he'd go around front again and unlock Rita's door, which he did. Sara and I were very happy to be back inside the apartment. She didn't seem the least bit upset after our ordeal. She promptly lay down on the floor beside her toys and we played for the rest of my time there. We're contemplating whether we should venture onto the patio another day - after I learn how to make sure the door won't lock behind us.

Glad that you and the kitty made it safely back into the apartment. I bet she did not notice that you were locked out, she just enjoyed her visit on the patio. Enjoy your weekend.

Glad that you and the kitty made it back inside and good thing you had that key was in your pocket...someone was watching over you huh?
Such a cute little kitty and he seems to know what the leash means. My Big pups also know what the leash means..they can even tell if we are even thinking about going somewhere in the car..Maggie loves to watch out the window for cows when we are driving to town :)
