We've waiting a long time to find a house and move. I'd convinced myself nothing was going to frustrate me once we finished the preliminaries and had finally closed on a house. WRONG! I've not even accepted the key yet and already I'm about to pull out my hair. My first phone call today was to the water company in the township we'll be living. How hard could it be to ask that the water service be continued but have the bill sent in our names? I learned that I need to go to the water company, retrieve a "new owner's packet", pay a $35 "membership" fee, prove ownership of the house, and then sign an easement contract and have it notarized. Does the water company have a notary in-house? Of course not. I have to go to the bank to have it notarized then take it back to the water company. Is that not crazy? My realtor and lender both allowed us to do business and sign contracts and send them via email. This rural water company requires me to be there in person to sign the forms. I asked about signing them online and was told I could print out the contracts but had to still go in and sign them in person. I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed with all the tasks ahead. I can't think of the major parts of the move quite yet because I still have so much going on here. There are cats to be fed, laundry to be done, and more phone calls to make. I'm to meet the owner and her daughter at the house tomorrow evening at 5pm. They'll give me the keys and then the work REALLY begins. What have I gotten myself into?

Take one project at a time and get it done. Welcome to rural living. You will look back on this someday and laugh!
oh for crying out loud..as the others said..take it one project at a time...it will all be worth it in the end when you are all settled and loving life...loved the photos you came up with..too funny.;)
Moving is quite exhausting and you'll bump into quite a bit of bureaucracy. Remember, deep breaths and one step at a time .... you'll get there eventually and be so pleased with your new home. And so will the cats.
They don't say that moving house is one of the most stressful events in ones life for nothing!!! I just know what it is like to deal with finicky local Gvt departments.....take a deep breath and take each step slowly, it'll come together. I'm sending positive thoughts your way!!!!
