REFLECTIONS OF THE DAY

OUR HOME AT DUSK

What would we do without friends and family members who continue to support us throughout this transition? We've learned that living in two houses is more difficult than it might seem but some of our friends have even blessed us with furniture to use in our family room at the farm. We weren't sure what we were going to do since the furniture here will not be going with us. We're not taking anything that could be harboring cat hair or dander. I realize we could have the furniture professionally cleaned but there is no guarantee there wouldn't be residual cat hair inside them. I'd rather be safe, plus our present pieces are about 16 years old. We'd saved enough for new furniture, but Uncle Sam will be receiving a major portion of that since it seems we made a huge miscalculation in tax filing this year. How did that happen? I honestly don't know and neither does the resident accountant, but it did happen and we'll need to surrender what we would have been spending on new furniture. So....thank you my dear friend Deanna (and family) for the gift of a couch and chairs. You are a life saver!

We've had friends deliver packing boxes for transporting our worldy goods, and some have given us extra cat food for our furry ones and the little strays I continue to feed. We continue to receive offers of help, which is heartwarming. Thank you my friends. Glenn and I appreciate all you do for us. What the strays kitties will do when we're finally out of this house, I don't know. I worry about them though. Perhaps I can convince some of my neighbors to look after them?

Glenn and I were at the farm most of the day yesterday and received some welcomed help from our daughter and son-in-law, who truly is a son to us. They borrowed a trailer and came back here to pack up more of Glenn's workbenches and a huge ( and heavy) storage cupboard from the garage. They made two trips and two deliveries to the farm, then bought pizza for all of us to enjoy a relaxing supper. What a special family we have. Thank you Jen and Doug. You are such a blessing to us.

Glenn is making progress on installing the floor in the guest room. It's going slower than he had hoped, but the project is moving along and that's a positive thing. I've been painting the inside of a kitchen cupboard and its shelves which will be home to my gingerbread collection, vintage tins, and blue Ball jars. I don't think I'm getting any better at painting but I haven't given up yet. It's good the shelves will be filled once they're in the cupboard. Maybe no one will look too closely at my painting job.

After we closed up shop for the evening, I went out back to take a few photos from our deck. I stood there pondering how far we'd come since deciding we wanted to live in that house, on that property, and felt so much gratitude and joy. Glenn and I are very blessed to call this our home.

That flooring is lovely!! I'm so glad your family and friends are helping you out. :)
Sorry to hear about the Uncle Sam issue - but glad you have a way to take care of it. I can imagine how disappointing it is to not be able to go furniture shopping with that money though.
The view you enjoy of the fields seems so relaxing. Would love to sit on the porch sipping lemonade and enjoying that peaceful setting. :)

The floor is gorgeous! You are so going to love it! And I can't wait to see your alcove all decorated up with your collections.
Sounds like you have some very compassionate friends. Couldn't you use a cleaners to remove all the pet dander from your furniture?
I love-love-love your view. It has to be so peaceful there. So beautiful.........
