SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE?

BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY COUCH GIVEN TO US BY DEANNA - THE BRIGHT BLUE CUSHIONS ARE A BIT INTENSE SO I PLAN TO MAKE COVERS FOR THEM
MATCHING ROCKER
THE 'QUEEN CHAIR" - I'LL MAKE SOME CUSHION COVERS FOR THIS TOO

Well, it's not actually a race we're in, unless we think about how much time is passing without our "former" home being listed for sale. This former home is actually still our present home though we've moved quite a bit of our belongings to the farm. I've been very frustrated lately because we seem to be at a standstill. We could continue packing up things and moving them to the farm, but we would only be piling up more boxes there. We haven't yet moved our furniture because the flooring isn't completely installed. It will probably take another couple of weeks before that's done. Glenn is doing his best to finish it, but he only has half the guest room done, with the whole kitchen and two bathrooms to go. More than a few times I've suggested he hire someone to install the flooring, but he insists on doing it himself. He's giving it a valiant effort and doing a great job of it, but simply doesn't have the time it takes to get it finished in a timely manner. So, we continue to wait and do what we can. My friend, Deanna, is my sounding board and she encourages me to work on my sewing area and take boxes of sewing and crafting supplies upstairs to where they will be stored. Things seem so much clearer after I talk to her. Deanna recently gave us a wonderful set of furniture for our family room. The beautiful dark wood frames are sturdy and were handmade in Tennessee. I love having things that were made in the USA. Though the cushions and coverings are in good shape, Deanna and I both think the blue is a little intense so I'm planning to recover them in a neutral-colored fabric.

These days I'm very easily overwhelmed. I see so many things that need to be done, but there is so little that is completely finished. Since we haven't yet moved in the bookshelves, dressers, blanket chests, and other storage units, nothing inside the boxes has an assigned home. It seems useless to take over more boxes when I can't empty the ones already there. I knew this would be a huge transition for us, but I didn't know how big the task would be. It's physically tiring and emotionally draining. I hardly have time to think about all the memories made in this house over the years. Maybe it's good that I'm not obsessing about leaving this place, and that I've finally embraced the fact my cabin will soon belong to someone else. I just wish we were further along in this move. For now, I'll have to deal with things the way they are. I'm reminded of The Serenity Prayer that asks, "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference". I could use some of that serenity, courage, and wisdom right now.

It may seem like it is taking a long time now and then in a few months when you look back and everything is put away and you get some of the things done that are stressing you it will all seem worth while and you will be sharing lots of pictures with us (that we will be waiting to see)
Just take it easy and do what you can every day..it may be hard but not good to stress over everything (now that is the pot calling the kettle black LOL)

Just take one day at a time.
Noah didn't build the ark in a day!
It will come together and then you can sit back and take a big sigh!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Prim Blessings

It's slowly coming together Kady!
Bit by bit, each day will see a few more accomplishments! What a nice thought to give you a new lounge and rocker, once you have covered them with fabric you love, you'll feel more at home!! Have a great weekend, and don't forget to breathe LOL!!!

Take some time for yourself to take it all in. Everything gets done! Slow and steady DOES win the race.
