We finally have cats on the farm...in the barn. l worked on the cat areas this week and though there are still things I'd like to do and need to do, it's fit for kitties now. The windows were installed, the walls were painted, and today we bought carpet remnants for the floor in each room - there are two. I didn't want wall-to-wall floor covering and it's a good thing. The "remnants" were large and heavy as it was. We used Glenn's pickup truck to haul them from the store and he singlehandedly transferred them to the cat areas of the barn. What a difference a little carpeting makes. The rooms seem nicer and cozier. The heaters are working and both areas are beginning to feel warmer. I have some decorating plans for the rooms and Glenn has some ideas about building shelves and ramps on which the cats can climb and play. So...we have more to do out there, but for now, I'm happy to have some of my furry ones here. Baxter, Bailey, Elliot, and Rusty are snug as bugs in their new rooms and seem to be adjusting to their new home. It took a little time for Bailey and Rusty to decide it was safe to come out of the cat carriers, but Baxter and Elliot seemed anxious to explore their surroundings. Tomorrow I'll bring over the rest of the clan. It's a good way to start the new year.

It is wonderful! You are all going to be so happy here. I know you must be pleased to have your 'family' in their new digs. It looks like a lot of time and great love went into this haven. Blessings to you and Glenn for creating this wonderful retreat for the otherwise homeless kitties.
Warm wishes and many blessings in 2012.

oh Kady so glad you are getting there with you so you can be close and be a family..I love the barn so far and they are going to love that new playground too;) happy new year.:)
Sounds wonderful and that is some lucky kitties to have you to care for them..Love the pictures. If I was a cat I think I would want to live with you. and their own rooms and carpeting..sounds so cozy and I am sure the kitties know how much you care :)
Yea - I'm so glad your dream finally came true. Our Kitty Boy is doing well although despite the warm kitty bed with the heater in the garage, he seems to maybe have found a honey and spends most of his time "out"...just uses us as a lunch bar LOLOLOL I wish you many blessings in the new year. Hugs!
