LET'S TABLE THAT

When I discovered an old primitive table in my cellar, I instantly knew I wanted to use it in decorating this old house, but where? I thought it might work in my sunroom, but Glenn decided he needed to store his drawing board and design implements in there, so I'll have to share the space and my table won't fit. I'd hoped to decorate the sunroom in rustic style, similar to the inside of the little cabin that had been my sanctuary at our former home. Since life is often about compromise, I found a different spot for the little table. It now resides on my side porch. On one of my excursions to the thrift store, I bought a large enamel pot with a wire handle and put it on top of the table. I added a container of flowers, placed an old chair beside the table, and draped a small well-worn quilt over the chair. The table seems happy to see daylight again.

I also found a wonderful table quilt at the same thrift shop where the enamel pot was purchased. It's handsewn and very colorful. I think it's perfect for summertime and looks nice on my diningroom table with a vintage bowl placed in the center of it. 

Although I pay small prices for the gently-used items I find, I treasure them and often wonder about the hands that made them. I hope the artists, quilters, and craftspersons would be pleased to know their items are being cherished and cared for in loving ways. When I no longer use them, I'll pass them along for someone else to enjoy.
