MOM'S OATMEAL RAISIN COOKIES

These are the cookies I remember Mom making for us to sell at our summer lemonade stand under the old oak tree. They're still my favorite. I sometimes add 1/4 tsp. nutmeg and 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. Yummy!

MOM'S OATMEAL RAISIN COOKIES

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 and 1/2 cup sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup seedless raisins
1 and 2/3 cup quick cooking oatmeal

Mix together thoroughly shortening, sugar, eggs, milk. Blend in flour sifted with soda, salt and cinnamon. Stir in raisins and oats. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheets. 3 dozen. Bake at 375 degrees for about 12 minutes.

I love oatmeal cookies! Always trying new recipes w/ them (ones w/ choc chips, one w/ cranberries) - I forget about the good ole standard w/ raisins! Thanks for posting!
