A LITTLE PROGRESS IS BETTER THAN NONE

LET'S SEE WHAT'S IN THE SICSA NEWSLETTER
MAY I HELP YOU TYPE? I PROMISE I'LL BE GOOD
Tucker seems to be responding well to a combination of corrections for his rough play biting. The SICSA vet has not returned my call but I'll be at the center in the morning and maybe I can talk to someone to see if there is something more I can be doing for him. Thank you for all of your insights and helpful suggestions. Though I've rescued all sorts of cats and kittens I don't think I've ever had one that played this roughly.
I've tried many things to curb this little vampire's urge, but what seems to be working right now is for me to screech loudly when he begins to bite, then immediately put him in the floor, not harshly, just swiftly, saying "no bite" as I'm doing it. So far, that is working like a charm and after a minute or so, he comes back to me and crawls into my lap for some loving.
Now, I realize what works today might not work for him tomorrow, but I'm trying very hard to be more consistent. I think his cuteness and the fact he was all alone in the world before I found him clouded my judgement just a bit and I allowed him to get by with some biting when it wasn't done so roughly. He is, afterall, acting on his pray instinct and doing what comes naturally. Still, he has to know that humans don't like that. I think he's getting the message.

Congrats to both of you. I know you both can get this fixed. I've also used a spray water bottle to help correct bad behavior ... like jumping up on the kitchen table etc.

Kady, I knew this little fellow was a smart cookie LOL, glad to hear he is learning to curb his antisocial ways! But sometimes like us, they forget! and need a gentle reminder. He sure is just the most gorgeous thing, I think I would forgive him just about anything!.....Merilyn

I'm sure he is going to be fine. He a sharp little creature and he wants to be loved more than he wants to play!
