THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS . . .

I was looking out the kitchen window tonight and feeling very grateful for my home, my cabin, and all with which I've been blessed. I admit there have been times I've wished for a different house, running water in the cabin, or fewer pets to tend. I've also wished for other things that would be nice to have, but are not necessities. Actually, I wouldn't wish my animals away for anything. They've been sent to me for a reason. I'm not really sure what that reason was, but I know they needed my help and I was given the means to offer it. Maybe it's as simple as that. There were needs I was able to meet. It's an awesome task to be responsible for other living things, but if I can give my cats and dog what they need and help them live long, safe, happy lives, then maybe I'm doing part of what I was put on this earth to do. I hope so. Now if I could just figure out the other things I'm supposed to be doing....
The song, "My Favorite Things" has been whirling through my head all evening, so here's my take on some of the lyrics (with apologies to Julie Andrews):
Roses on curtains and kittens on tables,
Homespun in wood bowls and cabins with gables,
Vintage potholders and dollies with wings,
These are a few of my favorite things . . .

Buttons in Ball jars and crocks with sunflowers,
I play in my cabin for hours and hours,
Thankful for joy that my little place brings,
These are a few of my favorite things . . .

When the dog barks . . . when the cats meow . . .
When they're in a mood . . .
I know that it's time to go back in the house
And fill up their bowls . . . with food.
