ONE COOL CAT

THIS IS BIGGER TIGGER - AKA BIG TIG

Bigger Tigger received his name by default. When he found me, there were already two other tiger striped cats in residence. He was the largest one, so when I talked about him, I called him the bigger tiger. Since I like rhyming words and phrases, that evolved into Bigger Tigger. When I was tending cats the other day, Big Tig was lying on the top of a shelf unit looking down on me and gesturing to be petted. I rubbed his head and began to talk to him, but I never know if any of the cats truly understands what I'm saying. That day I told Big Tig if he wanted to jump down from the shelf, I'd catch him and would not let him fall. To my great shock, Tig stood up then lept from the shelf right into my arms. He's a two-hand cat so it was a very good thing I'd already set down the big bowl I'd just filled with fresh water, but I would have dropped it and let water fly all over the place to ensure Tig made it down safely. I was amazed that he trusted me so much. He didn't use to trust anyone. He had apparently been abused before he found his way to me. He used to tuck his head and wince every time I tried to pet him and acted as if he'd been hit around the face and head. He lashed out a few times and bit me at first, but when I didn't retaliate, but only talked softly to him and petted him in a less tender spot, he eventually became more docile and less agitated. When a cat finds me, I never truly know what he's previously endured. All I can do is show him that he'll come to no harm here. I think Big Tig finally knows that.

I know they understand us. If not our specific language, then our tones and gestures. I love Big Tig! He looks just like my old cat, Puddin'. I adopted him from a rescue shelter here in our area. He was a most awesome pet. Thanks for stirring happy memories.

Awwww, Big Tig is so cute! And I love the little wispy tips on his ears. He reminds me of a cat I used to have years ago. he had been a stray and came to live with us. I named him Boxcar Willie (or Boxy for short), as he lived outside in a box for a while before we decided to move him into the house. He was a great cat! :-)

Blessings,
Andrea
