NO BROWNIE POINTS

BROWNIES SPRINKLED WITH POWERED SUGAR - YUM!

After all the years I've been baking, one would think I'd know what I was doing. Apparently I still have a lot to learn. I baked brownies yesterday and after they'd cooled, decided to sprinkle them with powdered sugar instead of frosting them - my attempt at making them a little less decadent. I pulled a small Rubbermaid container from the pantry and begin to apply the contents of it to the brownies. I cut the brownies into small squares and just had to try one to make sure they tasted good. The chocolate part was fine, but something was not right. I ran my finger through the powdered sugar on my brownie and tasted it. It didn't taste sweet at all. Then it dawned on me I'd sprinkled flour on the brownies. How could that have happened? I'd been positive the small container held powdered sugar. Why would I put flour in it when I already had a large plastic container of flour? Who knows why I do anything? Sometimes I even astound myself. I brushed off as much of the flour as I could and practically poured on the powdered sugar. That time I made sure it WAS sugar. No one is the wiser and I'm not going to tell Spouse about the mix-up. He can't even tell tuna from chicken, so he won't suspect a thing. One day I made him a chicken salad sandwich to take to work and when he came home he told me the tuna sandwich had been really good. Whatever.

I probably would have just added nuts.
I use masking tape and write on it what is in the jar. I used to live on a farm and grew to really detest mice. We store everything in tins or jars. I'm so spacey I don't remember what is where so I write on masking tape. Even the jars with the fancy vintage labels. I just put the tape on the back side.
Besides, I bet they were delicious anyway! It's hard to screw up a good brownie!
