HOOSIER DADDY?

LOADING THE TRUCK FOR THE TRIP TO THE FARM NEW OLD HOOSIER IN THE NEW OLD HOUSE
GLENN'S ROCKING CHAIR

My new old house is now home to an antique Hoosier cabinet. Though I'd looked online for a long time and searched antique shops, the only Hoosiers I had found were either too expensive for my budget or located too far away for "local" pick-up, on which many Ebay users insist. On Wednesday I was browsing the consignment shop in downtown Miamisburg and happened to tell the owner I'd been searching for a Hoosier online that morning. He said he'd just received one and asked if I'd like to see it. He didn't have to ask twice. After searching for one for such a long time, I was excited to see one directly in front of me. A number of people were stopping to look at it so I was sure it wouldn't be there for long. The cupboard has a couple minor issues but it's an antique so I expect it to have a few blimishes. Those don't bother me one bit. Just as in my new old house, those things add character. The roll top door needs a little work. The slats are all there but two of them have pulled loose. For that reason, and because of a crack in the glass window on the middle cupboard door, the consignment shop owner gave me a great deal on the piece. The owner of the wood shop on Main Street repairs antique furniture so I'll ask him for an estimate. While at the consignment shop, Glenn took a fancy to a rocking chair so we bought that too. We loaded up the Hoosier and the rocker and took them to their new old home. I'm already thinking about how I might decorate the Hoosier for the holidays.

Oh Kady, your a lucky girl ~ I love it! I was looking at some of them while antiquing yesterday and they were to high for my pocket book. Maybe someday I'll get lucky like you!
I love the rocking chair too!
