IT'S BERRY GOOD

I just finished making a fresh strawberry pie. I've learned to make sure I have what I need or make a trip to the store before I start baking. For some reason it took a long time for me to learn to do that. I gathered my ingredients and decided what kind of crust to make.
I used the basic recipe I posted yesterday, but made my own graham cracker crust. It's easy to do and doesn't require turning on the oven. I made the crust first and put it in the freezer for about 15 minutes so it would become firm. I saved some crumbs to add to the top of the finished pie.
I cooked the gelatin mix, added the vanilla and Jello, then set it aside to cool.

While the crust was firming and the gelatin was cooling, I sliced the strawberries.
I lined the bowl with clean paper towels to absorb moisture.

When the graham cracker crust was firm and the gelatin mix was cool, I combined them and poured everything into the crust then sprinkled the top with the reserved crumbs. We'll serve the pie with whipped cream tonight, but I think it would taste just fine without it. Now I'm going to go bake some cookies for my mom. I'll see her tomorrow and I'm sure she'd rather have homemade cookies than "store-bought" cake. I hope so anyway.

OK, if you see a piece missing in the morning, it was because I raided your fridge. LOL!
