LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS

These photos are very hazy. The weather was so humid my camera lens kept fogging up when I tried to snap a picture. I'll replace these with better photos when the humidity gives us a break.
SOME OF THE PUMPKIN VINES WANDERING INTO THE YARD
THIS LITTLE GREEN PUMPKIN IS ABOUT 6" IN DIAMETER

I'M NOT SURE WHAT KIND OF PUMPKIN THIS IS
IT LOOKS LIKE A GOURD TO ME BUT I DIDN'T SET OUT GOURDS

I recently posted a photo of my one and only sunflower and shared that she was a "volunteer", meaning she grew in a place I had not planted any seeds. I didn't plant any pumpkin seeds either, but I now have some small pumpkins growing and the vines are wildly winding all over the place. I don't know if the pumpkins are actually volunteers because I did set out pumpkins after they had begun to wilt and were no longer useful for fall decorating. I'm amazed the seeds from those shriveled pumpkins produced healthy vines and blooms. My gardening friend, Deanna, isn't surprised. She's the one who suggested I set out the pumpkins last fall. I'm glad I listened to her. I posted photos of two pumpkins, but found two more that are still very small. I didn't have this much success when I actually planted pumpkin seeds!

Yet I had to wear a sweater this morning--go figure!!
