NOW THIS IS JUST RIGHT

I have a dilemma. My life seems to consist of one dilemma after another. Today's concern is neither earth-shattering nor life-threatening. It's simply frustrating.

This year, we left up our Christmas trees and decorations longer than usual. I don't think we were actually procrastinating about taking them down. We were just enjoying them. Taking everything down and storing it is my very least favorite part of the holidays but I decided to tackle that chore this week.

A few weeks prior to Christmas I bought a gently used, primitive-looking, artificial tree. I loved having it up and decorated with vintage style lights and my own handmade ornaments. The tree didn't come with a box so now I have to find something in which to store it. None of the storage containers I already have is large enough. I even cleared out a closet and pulled out the huge Rubbermaid container in which I store guest linens, thinking that would hold the tree, but it didn't. Now I have closet clutter all over the guest bed and bedroom floor AND the artificial Christmas tree (now in three sections) is taking up space in the living room floor. Of course the cats are more than happy to "help" me, but their help leaves a bit to be desired.

I'd been searching the internet for large holiday storage containers and when I finally found one that would be perfect, I learned it was the only one not in stock at the moment. Now what am I going to do? I want the tree out of the livingroom floor. I want the guest room and closet organized, and I would love to have some time to sew and work in the cabin, AFTER I straighten the house, dust, vacuum, and find homes for the holiday decorations. Maybe that's just asking for too much.

Can you say black garbage bags? That's what I've been storing mine in for years. Mine may be shorter than yours. But I put it down in one and tie it around the middle, then put another one over the top, pull it down and tie it around the middle. Works like a charm because we store ours up in the attic.

Kady mine is a two section tree. And I did not want to crunch the branches on it so I took it apart and put it in a box and slide another box the same size down on top of that box it actually left me room on the sides of the tree to put small boxes down inside witht the ornaments etc. in them. So now I have two good size boxes but all of my decorations and my tree are in them. Which will be easier next year to get to.
LOVE love the cat pictures how precious at least they are enjoying what you are doing

Hi Kady--I have 3 prim trees--one is 4',3' and 2' ones--I have learned to bundle them up and I wrap them in a big flannel sheet and tie it 3 or 4 times along the lenght--it fits sooo much better in a closet that way and takes way less room!!!
Love Love those boxes you have--and the kitties are just the "accent" touch they all needed!!!!
Hugs,Di and miss gracie

Those are some precious pictures--would make awesome scrapbook pages. I'm so jealous. I wish we could have some kitties.
Don't know how to help with the tree problem. Did you try Wal Mart? I'm guessing I would try multiple boxes. *sigh* Not much help, huh?

Hi Kady,
Oh this is a problem with artificial trees isn't it.
We have a few of them and because our basement allows it....WE LEAVE THEM AS IS AND STORE THEM IN THE FURTHEST PART OF THE BASEMENT. We cover them with one of those large christmas tree bags that are meant to put real ones in to get them out of the house. Works beautifully.
Maybe not a solution for you but thought I'd throw it out there.
