DOWN COUNTRY ROADS

I don't know who said it but I've heard the adage that one day in the country is worth a year in the city. I've longed to live in the country for as long as I can remember and now that I do, I love taking advantage of the country roads and scenery. When I started out on errands today I decided to take the backroads and clear my mind of the decisions and responsibilites that have consumed me this past month. Those things have not gone away, nor will they, but driving down country roads was a wonderful way to lessen the burdens of life for a few minutes. When I saw the draft horse scratching his head on an old tree, I slowed the car, backed up, and stopped in order to take his photo. Isn't he a beauty? The other photos are just simple country scenes I passed on my way into town to do some banking, mail a letter, and then head to my former home to continue the process for selling it. I might need to drive down country roads again tomorrow.

P.S. I just found the adage on Pinterest - I hadn't even searched for it. Serendipity! I had the adage wrong - it's a MONTH in town. Oh well. Here it is. The link took me to the Primitive Pond.

Lovely post Kady! You're right driving on country roads is a great way of distracting yourself from the things that weigh heavily! For me I just love the 20minute drive into town/work, I see dairy cows, horses, wonderful old sheds, cute little cottages, and the river as it winds on its way into town. It is a time of quiet reflection from the busyness of the working day, letting all that go and by the time I drive into my driveway I am switched completly over to my world! Definitely lifts the spirits and thankyou for sharing your trip into town!!! lovely photos!!
